root S.A. (www.root.lu) is a leading Internet Backbone and Colocation Provider specializing in Colocation, Dedicated Servers, Direct Internet Connections, and Web Hosting.
root S.A. operates its own international network, running multiple 10 Gigabit Ethernet connections to Frankfurt, London and Amsterdam. Founded in 2002 by Andy Bierlair and Marc Goederich during their studies at the University of Kaiserslautern, root S.A. now operates a redundant international network and is owner of a datacenter of more than 1500 square meters in Steinsel with room for 10.000 servers and has national points of presence at SecureIT, BCE and eBRC. Since January 2009 root S.A. is serving Akamai content (audi. de, nasa,gov, …) to most national broadband customers at a cumulated average speed of 400 MBit/s.
